We are proud to be working with one of the leading national law firms in health, housing and social care. It has an unrivalled understanding of the public, professional regulatory and emergency services sectors and is highly regarded for its practical, market-driven solutions.
The firm is well supported by the current governance and risk team of c.12 members, divided between its various offices, including Birmingham and London. As the function grows the firm has identified the need to recruit a Senior Governance & Risk Lawyer to focus on litigation and professional indemnity issues.
The role will report to the Director of Governance & Risk and will be responsible for handling the complaints and claims matters in the team. The postholder will be responsible for assisting with any complex small claims the firm is involved with, handling complaints arising from its employees, clients and third parties and supporting with the professional indemnity insurance renewals. This list is not intended to be exhaustive because this is a wide-ranging role covering all the key areas of law firm risk and compliance. You will also be included in projects to support driving improvements across the firm in risk and compliance and delivering training where needed.
We are seeking a contentious solicitor with at a least 4 years PQE. Ideally you will have handled a range of litigious matters, including some professional negligence claims. You should have trained and worked in a leading law firm and may have gained some in-house experience as well, although this is not essential. If you have worked in a law firm risk and compliance function previously this would be highly advantageous.
You must be confident in handling multiple claims and having a busy workload and should be comfortable dealing with colleagues at all levels. It is a role that will require the individual to take on responsibility and demonstrate initiative to support the Director to deliver the best-in-class service.
