Legal & Corporate Governance Counsel – Insurance sector
Our client is one of the largest global life and health reinsurance companies in the world, with operations in 26 countries. It is a market leader in life and health reinsurance solutions.
The UK legal team is headquartered in the City of London and provides full legal support across the jurisdiction, including Northern Ireland. An opportunity has arisen for a legal counsel to join this dynamic team to support on a wide range of issues.
You will be required to provide advice on commercial agreements, company secretarial matters and issues surrounding corporate and regulatory governance in the context of the insurance and reinsurance industry. You will work closely with business teams such as finance, marketing and business development as well as colleagues in other jurisdictions to execute this multi-faceted role.
We are seeking a solicitor who is admitted to practice law in England & Wales and must have at least 3 years of work experience. Ideally you will have trained in a leading law firm and gained some in-house experience either by secondment or a recent role. We will also consider solicitors who have trained in-house. It is essential that you have the commercial and company secretarial skills and it would be extremely advantageous if you have gained this in an insurance setting.
To thrive in this role, you must be able to demonstrate strong negotiation and drafting skills and be willing to pick up new matters. You should be motivated, well-organised, be able to multi-task and happy to work independently as well as part of a team. The ability to display initiative and take responsibility is also necessary. You will be joining a small, high calibre, friendly and fully supportive team.
