Our client is looking for an experienced law firm risk and compliance specialist. In this pivotal role, you will oversee and manage the Firm's legal, regulatory, and risk teams across the EMEA region, collaborating closely with the Global General Counsel to uphold governance standards and safeguard the Firm’s reputation. You will provide strategic legal advice to senior stakeholders, manage complex investigations, and ensure compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory frameworks, including SRA regulations.
You will also lead initiatives related to governance, responsible business practices, claims management, and process improvements, supporting the Firm’s enterprise-wide risk management strategy. This demanding role requires a proactive approach to legal and ethical issues, overseeing compliance with data protection laws such as GDPR, maintaining regulator relationships, and guiding internal teams through complex legal and contractual matters. You will also be involved in the management of corporate secretariat activities, commercial agreements, and the Firm’s responsible business programmes, including ESG and corporate responsibility initiatives. Your leadership will be instrumental in shaping a positive legal and compliance culture within the firm, while mentoring and developing the legal team across EMEA.
- Extensive experience as a legal and risk leader within professional services organisations
- UK qualified lawyer (solicitor or barrister) with current practice license
- Prior experience in an Office of General Counsel and knowledge of laws, regulations, and procedures in multiple jurisdictions
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence senior leaders
- Excellent communication, project management, problem solving, and decision-making skills
- Proven experience in handling complex investigations, regulatory compliance, and risk governance
